Airsoft is a competitive sport played with BB guns. The newest versions shoot plastic BBs and are very realistic looking! Airsoft guns come in all shapes and sizes, but most of them operate on the same principles: the user shoots a gun at other players, and those hit by projectiles lose health points. They are actually made up of a trigger, magazine, case and a pistol grip. The magazines hold about 60 or more paintballs which can be fired using the slide or hammer action. The case holds the pellets and the trigger makes it fire.
The airsoft gun is not a very accurate weapon; but it does not need to be. The purpose for its use is to train the troops and simulate real scenarios like war games or military training drills. These guns, like all weapons, must be safely handled, especially when you are playing with your friends, so don't point them at anyone intentionally. Always practice correctly to avoid any accidents with your airsoft pistols and firearms.
A Functional System For Airsoft Guns
The airsoft guns operate on a three phase system. The first is the compression phase, which compresses the air in front of the piston and forces compressed air out through an orifice. The second phase is the explosion phase, where high pressure propels gas inside the chamber, creating a high-velocity shockwave that propels pellets out of an orifice at high speed. The last phase is the gas release phase, where some of the gas that was compressed in the first phase escapes out of an orifice to reduce the chamber pressure.
Airsoft guns are classified under five main categories: Single-shot, two-shot, three-shot, semi-automatic and automatic. Single shot guns do not fire continuously while semi-automatic guns fire once per trigger pull. Automatic guns fire multiple times per trigger pull. Two-shot guns fire once, eject the empty cartridge and shoot again. Three-shot guns fire three times before reloading.
The airsoft pellets are heavier than paintball pellets because these guns shoot at velocities lower than paintball markers (200–350 feet per second (fps) compared to 500–800 fps). While paintballs weigh around 3, 5 grams (60–90 grains), most airsoft pellets weigh around 2.5 grams (55–80 grains). A realistic airsoft with a red dot sight, iron sights and fully synthetic sights can produce an effective range of over 300 m (1000 feet). A top-flight full metal custom gun is able to fire over 500 fps. There are many internal parts that work together to keep the internal workings of guns functioning smoothly. There are only two things that rely on the compression phase to function correctly, these are the bearings and compression chamber, and they both need grease.
Why Do Airsoft Guns Exist?
The airsoft is a gun that replicates the feeling of firing an actual firearm, but it is not capable of causing any harm to anyone. These guns are used for military training drills, scenario war games, recreational sport shooting or paintball activities. If you are interested in buying some guns you should take some time to do some research on what different guns are best suited for your needs.
The airsoft guns are made of plastic and they do not shoot any real bullets, but it does make "BB's" which is the same as the paintballs. The kits come with everything you need to run and operate your gun including ammo and CO2 ammo cartridges. Some military agencies like the US Marines use these guns as a training tool, while some police agencies use them for their tactical training simulations. They can be easily modified and upgraded, so it's easy to paint them to your preference. Some of these accessories include stock stabilizers, scopes, flashlights and laser sights.
Sport of Airsoft- Increasing In Popularity
Let's explore one of my favorite hobbies, airsoft. Its popularity is rapidly growing all over the world. For those uninitiated in this sport, it works like paintball but without all the gunpowder or limitations to health and safety regulations. Airsoft enthusiasts enjoy the thrill of the game, the camaraderie of their fellow players and the opportunity to make friends from all around the world. It is readily available in most locations around the world (though it is not legal in all).
The game goes by many names, including blowback action shooting, air rifle or BB guns. The term airsoft comes from its resemblance to air rifles. Also, airsoft operations are conducted on many different field types—both private property and public land. Airsoft is played indoors, outdoors and in all kinds of weather. The game requires the use of military grade replica guns with authentic details. The primary rule of this game is to be safe and within the rules.
There are many different
models/designs of airsoft guns—from AK-47s to M16s, G3 assault rifles or even
Thompson submachine guns (M1928) like in the movie "Vincent &
Theo". Replica guns are made from a variety of materials, while some
models are also constructed from plastic and metal. Some guns can even be
attached with an electrical mechanism for firing. The players often modify
their replica guns by adding real firearm features such as scopes, flashlights
or lasers. More innovative players will add on lights and sound effects to make
the airsoft gun more realistic.
